Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Philippians 2:3-5
We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father, knowing, brethren beloved by God, His choice of you. 1 Thessalonians 1:2-4
We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged, and the love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater; therefore, we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure. 2 Thessalonians 1:3-4
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
If the church of Jesus Christ will give herself fully to the supernatural dynamics of God’s presence as we have talked about them so far in this week, there is nothing that can stand in her way of being all and fulfilling all that God has called her to. As the body of Christ, he is our real and actual head. Through the supernatural working of the Holy Spirit, Christ orchestrates the working of his body, the church. As the body of Christ functions under the Headship of Christ, he builds his church and advances his kingdom. As we behold him working through the members of his body, our hearts overflow with gratitude. Affirmations of gratitude to God for all that He is doing and to each other for all the cooperation and participation we see taking place in each other’s lives become a significant hallmark of who we are as God’s people and how we operate in the mission of His glorious kingdom.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, my heart is filled and overflowing with gratitude. I am amazed at how you are at work in our world today building your church. Thank you for what you are doing and for never giving up. I believe your promise that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church you are building. My gratitude abounds to your people everywhere who are letting you work in them and through them for the common good and for the sake of your kingdom. Amen!
